Picked up Dec/Jan 2010 Wine Club Shipment from Domaine Carneros

Boom!!! My last wine shipment until 2010. This shipment was a little bit of what old is new again, in that both bottles are just new releases for wines that I’ve had before. With the two wines being a 2005 Ultra Brut sparkling (I had a 2004 bottle of Ultra Brut) and a 2007 La Terre Promise Pinot Noir (I had a 2006 bottle of La Terre Promise Pinot Noir.) Continue reading

Review – Georges Duboeuf – Beaujolais Nouveau 2009

Always an easy drinking wine. And what I would consider an everyday table red (to steal a line from an twice removed uncle.) Usually Beaujolais Nouveau is very thin, but after a couple of glasses during Thanksgiving a few months back. I have to say that this years wine has a little more body/substance then normal. So if this is any sign of what’s to come from France for 2009, its a very good sign indeed. Continue reading

Soda Pop recipe- New York Seltzer Raspberry flavored clone – v5 and v6

I ended up getting “The Carbonator” cap from my LHBS to test out making my own pop. With the carbonator cap and a bottle of Torani syrup from Cost Plus World Market I was off and running in trying to make my own pop. At first I thought that it was going to be easy to replicate something like the old defunked New York Seltzer that I had as a kid. But after a couple of months and plenty of failed experiments, I’m finally starting to get close to a light but sweet flavor profile for a homemade pop. Continue reading
